Steve Tippit - Download Resume

Steve Tippit is the founder and principal contact for The Tippit Group. He has been employed by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and the ARC (American Red Cross) and now does response and consulting with both agencies.

He recently completed 6 months of work with the Department of Homeland Security DHS/FEMA during their national response to the 2004 hurricanes that struck Florida with such devastating effects. He was originally requested to assist with the tremendous Mass Care and Sheltering issues following the landfall of Tropical Storm Bonnie, Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, Jeanne, and the Ivan.

His experience in these issues were used in the Panhandle region of the State of Florida following the devastating the Hurricane Season. He later was contracted to help form and work with the Long Term Recovery Committees in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties.

Ed Herring brings thirty plus years of Emergency Management (EM) experience to the table having been the EM for Weld County, Colorado. His areas of responsibility were myriad but with heavy emphasis in Fire/Rescue, Hazardous Material Response, Training and Disaster Response arenas.

He has attained his Certified Emergency Manager status through his many years of hands on experience and training through the Colorado Emergency Managers Association and approved by the International Association of Emergency Managers.

Mr. Herring has been a Deputy Sheriff with the Weld County Sheriffs Office and a Volunteer Firefighter with the Evans, Colorado Fire Department where he attained the rank of Captain of the Entry Team.

Holly Schaeffer, Ph.D., has years of disaster experience with the Battle Creek Public School District. In addition to her commitment to her duties with the American Red Cross Disaster Services Human Resources system, she brings to the table the trained eye of an active education specialist. She has worked closely with the local and state EM (Emergency Management) community to meet the needs of the students, staff, and neighbors in times of disaster.

Dr. Schaeffer’s ability to see where a programs training and assets have shortfalls and then to suggest scheduling and training to meet those shortfalls is a valued asset to the group.

Dr. K Poff

The research and writing genius of Dr. Ken Poff will round out The Tippit Group team that would be assigned to complete a project. Dr. Poff is a tenured Professor at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan American Red Cross and an advisor to the Board of Governor for the American National Red Cross.
